Educational Technology

For the last several years I’ve been doing technology training and support for the NPS learning management system (Sakai) and synchronous meeting tool (Elluminate).  I’ve been the guy who shows instructors which buttons to press to have the systems do what they want to do.

Now my boss is getting me involved in working with instructors to discuss ways they can improve their teaching methods using the tools.  This type of change takes a special effort on the part of the instructor because they have to do a lot of analysis to figure how what they want to do and how to get there.  This is an interesting topic for me because I like being a systems analyst where I listen to instructors desires and figure out a way they can achieve them.

Along these lines I’ve created a page on our wiki which provides suggestions for instructors based on common classroom tasks and how they can be achieved using technology.  Any additional ideas of common classroom goals are welcome.
